Changes to the ACC Scheme are detailed in the consultation documents for each year. These documents include proposed levy rates, and the levy risk groups. Levy payers can have a say on the proposals by making a submission.
Levy consultation 2012/2013
Public consultation on our proposed levies and other changes for the 2012/2013 levy year began on 12 July 2011 and ended at 5pm, 16 August 2011.
Annual levy setting process
Levy rates for personal injury cover are reviewed and set every year. Levy payers can comment on the proposed rates during a consultation period. The Government sets the final levy rates, based on recommendations from the Minister for ACC alongside advice from Treasury and Department of Labour.
There are four stages in the process:
- The proposed rates in the consultation documents are made public.
- Levy payers and other interested parties have a minimum of 28 days to make a written submission on ACC’s proposals.
- The ACC Board considers all feedback and then finalises ACC’s recommendations on the levy rates.
- The ACC Board submits its recommendations to the Minister for ACC.
Public consultation for the 2013/2014 levy year is expected to take place around September/October 2012.
