ACC meets ethical requirements when conducting research. We have a committee and a set of guidelines to ensure these requirements are met.
Research Ethics Committee
The Committee oversees ethical issues relating to research. Membership of the Committee is drawn from within ACC and externally. The current members are:
External members

- Alison Douglass, Barrister and Solicitor (Co-Chair).

How to apply
If you are undertaking research that involves or may affect ACC claimants, or uses claim data held by ACC, you will need to apply to the Research Ethics Committee – use the application form below. Before completing the application, please read the accompanying guidance for applicants.
Note:
Applications must be submitted to the Committee two weeks prior to the meeting date.

Guidelines
The ACC Research Ethics Committee has developed guidelines for use by both ACC staff and external researchers. The guidelines aim to:
- lay an effective ethical foundation for research
- promote high ethical standards consistent with:
- legislation
- national best practice.
