In-depth assessments of the effectiveness and safety of:

- other health interventions.
They are based on a systematic search of the literature and evaluation of existing research evidence carried out according to a robust methodology.
Brief reports
Including links to accompanying considered judgement forms or CJFs, if available
Concise and straightforward summaries of the main issues relating to a particular health intervention. Brief reports tend to focus on interventions on which published research is limited.

Purchasing guidance
Considered judgement forms (CJF)
Reports that focus on whether ACC should fund the intervention in question. They are usually produced to accompany an evidence based review or brief report. The EBH group works with ACC’s Purchasing Guidance Advisory Group (PGAG) to make recommendations on what interventions ACC should purchase. Purchasing recommendations are developed through a considered judgement process that involves evaluating evidence and consulting with clinical experts. The process is documented in considered judgement forms.
Purchasing guidance on interventional pain management procedures
Following the launch of ACC’s web based clinical guideline on interventional pain management, purchasing guidance was developed for a range of pain management procedures that ACC is sometimes asked to fund. The following documents were finalised in October 2006:

Guideline development is a systematic process that involves reviewing evidence, consulting clinical experts and working with multidisciplinary advisory groups. This process is often contracted out to external groups who specialise in guideline development.

Guidelines in progress
Hearing loss |
ACC is developing a best practice guideline on the diagnosis of occupational noise-induced hearing loss. The guideline will evaluate the evidence base in order to improve the accuracy and consistency of clinical decision making. The guideline will be released in May 2010. |
