Foreword
ACC is committed to injury prevention.
Injury statistics are a vital tool to achieving this. We use the information to analyse claim trends, identify priority areas to target and develop programmes to reduce the number and cost of injuries to New Zealanders. We also use injury statistics as a scorecard, to tell us how we’re doing.
Between 1 July 1999 and 30 June 2000, work-related injuries were covered by private insurers, so the figures will look a bit different for this area. As the most detailed we’ve produce, these 2008 statistics give valuable insight into the patterns of accidents in New Zealand over time.
