Your Experience Rating Information

Your experience rating information

As a result of the introduction of experience rating, your recent ACC Levy invoice may have changed from previous invoices you have received from us.

This guide will help to explain what these changes are and how they affect you.

1. No-claims discount programme

Experience rating information sheets outline how your modification has been calculated, and includes:

  • a summary of claims that have contributed towards your no-claims discount programme result.

Note: If your modification rate is -10% you will not receive this information as you have no qualifying claims to report on.

How it works
This section of your statement lists all the claims that have contributed to your no-claims discount result.
The ACC classification unit shown below is the Classification Unit your business comes under. For a larger business you may have more than one ACC classification unit. If this is the case, the claims below will be grouped under the appropriate ACC classification unit.

2. Experience rating programme

Experience rating information sheets are provided with each experience rated invoice. This outlines how your invoice has been calculated, and includes:

  • your liable earnings and levy amount by classification unit for the last three years
  • a summary of claims that have impacted your experience rating
  • comparisons of your business’s claims experience against your industry peers (businesses of a similar size that fall within the same levy risk group) so you can see how your claims history compares against the rest of your industry
  • comparisons of your industry peer groups rating compared to all other businesses within the same levy risk group
  • your business group number.

Each of these sections of your information sheet are explained below.

This section shows the ACC classification unit applied to your business during the experience period and the levy amount according to your liable earnings.

Claims 02

This section lists all the claims that have contributed to your experience rating result. The ACC classification unit shown below is the Classification Unit related to these claims. For a larger business you may have more than one ACC classification unit. If this is the case, the claims below will be grouped under the appropriate ACC classification unit.

Claims B

This section shows a comparison of your business’s claims experience against other businesses of a similar size that fall within the same levy risk group that you are part of.

This information is used by ACC to ensure your levy calculation is fair and equitable according to the size of your business and your claims experience.

Claims C

This section shows a comparison of your industry peer group rating against all other businesses within the same levy risk group.

Claims 05

This section shows your business group number which has been allocated by ACC for the purposes of experience rating. A grouping confirmation letter was sent to you (either directly, or to your nominated Group Administrator if you have one) to confirm your grouping arrangements.
