If you are self-employed, making changes to your business may affect the levies you pay.
What to do
If your circumstances change, you need to let us know as soon as possible. To do this you can:
- download ACC4819 Changes to your business information form (PDF105K),
- fill out the form online ACC4819 Changes to your business information (self-employed), or
- contact the ACC Business Service Centre.
What kind of changes will affect my levies?
We need to know if you:
- stop being self-employed
- change your business activity
- change your full-time or part-time status
- move premises
- reallocate your declared earnings.
How will these changes affect my levies?
Stopping self-employment
If you are planning to stop, or have already stopped being self-employed then we need to know the date you stopped and your earnings from 1 April to the date you stopped being self-employed. This is so that we can adjust your ACC invoice (if necessary) or stop charging you ACC levies and issue your final invoice.
Changing business activity or altering your full-time/part-time status
Changes to your business activity or working hours can affect the amount of levies you have to pay or the ACC cover product that applies to you. By keeping us informed, we can make sure that you only pay what is relevant to your circumstances.
Moving premises
If you move and don’t tell us, then chances are you won’t receive your invoice. This may mean you get charged penalties if you don’t pay your invoice on time.
Reallocation of declared earnings
What if I want to take a break?
If you are thinking of taking a break from work but don’t want to lose your cover have a look at ACC TimeOut.
