Levies for shareholder-employees

Levies are the payments you make to ACC for your personal injury cover. Your company is required to pay ACC levies. You may also pay levies as an employee through your PAYE or by choosing ACC CoverPlus Extra.

Levies paid by your company, levies paid as an employee

All businesses pay ACC Workplace Cover levies for every employee. The amount your company pays in workplace cover varies if PAYE is not deducted from your pay, but you take out ACC CoverPlus Extra. This reduces the amount your company pays for ACC WorkPlace Cover.

The small, medium and large business section gives more information about ACC WorkPlace Cover levies.

ACC CoverPlus Extra levies – agreed lost earnings compensation

If you do not have PAYE deducted from your income then you can elect to take out ACC CoverPlus Extra.

With ACC CoverPlus Extra you negotiate an agreed amount of lost earnings cover with ACC. This is used to determine what loss of earnings compensation you will receive if an injury prevents you from working.

ACC CoverPlus Extra is available to you as a non-PAYE shareholder, and you pay for it personally rather than the company paying for it. When you pay for ACC CoverPlus Extra it reduces the amount your company pays in ACC Workplace Cover.
