Injury Management Consultants (IMCs) specialise in injury management. An IMC can work with you on the development of an injury management system or process, tailored to the business needs of your organisation. The level of service (which is always free) and input from an IMC is based on your business’ requirements.
Benefits of injury management processes
Injury management processes:
- reduce your costs. See how by using the injury cost calculator
- retain your employees’ skills and experience
- reduce lost work time
- promote and improve workplace culture and cooperation
- achieve improved rehabilitation outcomes for your employees.
It is important to have a system in place to manage either work or non-work injuries absences.
Is my business considered small, medium or large?
If you are not sure which category your business falls under for injury management (return to work / rehabilitation) processes, consider the following criteria:
Small to medium businesses
Small to medium-sized businesses sometimes called enterprises or SMEs mostly require a few simple processes to support injured employees. Small businesses generally:
- have fewer than 20 employees
- are located on a single site
- can be owner-operated, managed by a single person
- have an owner operator or manager who is considered a generalist, ie they do a bit of everything
- have relatively informal injury management systems and processes.
Medium businesses
Medium businesses generally:
- have between 20 and 50 employees
- are located on a single site
- are owner-operated, managed by a single person or operate under a flat management structure
- have ‘generalist’ managers, ie they do a bit of everything
- have a combination of formal and informal injury management systems and processes.
Large businesses
Large businesses generally require more comprehensive systems than smaller businesses – they must, as they cater for more complex environments. Large businesses generally:
- have 50 or more employees
- may operate on multiple sites
- have three or more layers of management
- have specialist managers, such as human resources managers, production managers, finance managers etc
- have formal systems and processes.
