Having a plan to manage how your employee can remain at, or return to, work is important.
Create a return to work plan
ACC has a basic return to work plan template (DOC 29K) to help you get started.
For more information, see the following fact sheets:
ACC1698 Helping employees get back to work: ACC support services (PDF 55K)
ACC1701 Helping employees get back to work: Workplace assessments (PDF 50K)
ACC1710 Helping employees get back to work: Identifying suitable duties (PDF 53K)
ACC1719 Helping employees get back to work: Medical certificates (PDF 546K)
ACC1760 Completing the Employee Earnings Certificate (PDF 635K)
You can implement a return to work plan at any stage, and it is best to start as soon as possible.
Individual rehabilitation plans
Your employee may also need an individual rehabilitation plan for a more serious or complex injury. ACC will arrange this.
If your employee does need an ACC-developed individual rehabilitation plan, part of this plan may include returning to work. We will let you know what’s involved, and how the employee’s rehabilitation goals tie in with the return to work plan you and your employee create together.
