Workplace safety for small, medium and large businesses

Workplace safety for small, medium and large businesses

If you need more information about managing workplace safety, and preventing injuries, check out the resources below.

Experience Rating

On 1 April 2011 ACC introduced experience rating, a system of modifying a business’s ACC Work levy based on its claims history. Experience rating recognises and rewards business owners (including self-employed people) with good claims experience, and encourages a focus on improving workplace safety and making New Zealand businesses better places to work.

Preventing Injuries

See our Preventing Injuries section for resources to keep your workplace injury-free. You will also find links to other injury prevention sites to help keep you, your family and your workplace injury-free.

ACC WorkPlace Safety Evaluations

ACC WorkPlace Safety Evaluations is a process designed to help employers with poor injury statistics to improve the safety of their workplace.

ACC Workplace Safety Discounts

ACC Workplace Safety Discounts encourage you to keep injuries out of the workplace by giving you a discount on your levies. These apply to some industries only.

ACC Workplace Safety Management Practices programme

This programme is aimed at medium sized employers, and gives safer workplaces discounts of up to 20 percent on their ACC levies.

ACC Partnership Programme

Employers can take up to 90 percent off their ACC levies, if they take responsibility for their employees’ work injury claims. The Partnership Programme is more suitable for large employers whose levies exceed $150,000 per year.
