Persistent pain is a distressing and debilitating condition. It is a major barrier to rehabilitation and well-being and is therefore of particular concern to ACC.
The IPM guidance is the product of a major research project that began in 2002. The project reviewed the available research on a wide range of interventional procedures for the management of persistent pain and developed evidence-based recommendations on their use. The IPM project was managed by ACC and the recommendations were formulated by an expert advisory group with experience in pain management.
