Provider claim lodgement framework

The claim lodgement framework covers various types of injury and shows which treatment providers are able to provide initial treatment, and lodge claims on behalf of the client.

How to use the matrix

Injury types in the matrix are presented in order of READ code.

An ‘X’ in the matrix indicates the treatment provider can give initial treatment, complete the ACC45 for the corresponding injury type and lodge the claim with ACC, or the Accredited Employer, on behalf of the client.

If the column is ‘Blank’ then the treatment provider can give the initial treatment and complete the ACC45, but the client must be referred to a Medical Practitioner before cover can be determined.

Adding information to the claim lodgement framework

ACC Rehabilitation Service Development group can add further information to this framework after consultation with the Health Providers Group.

Additional READ Codes

Please note that there are additional READ codes not shown on the list of common READ codes that are within a treatment provider’s normal scope of practice. Refer to the full READ code directory accessed via the Browser software on the CD in your Treatment Provider Handbook.
