Council and committee activities

The Drowning Prevention Council (DPC) and advisory committees are responsible for meeting the objectives of the Drowning Prevention Strategy Implementation Plan. Read about each of their activities from the links below, updated following each DPC and advisory committee meeting.

Drowning Prevention Council

The DPC is responsible for providing the strategic leadership required to meet the deliverables in the Implementation Plan. The DPC is also responsible for increasing community and sector engagement in water safety programmes.

These are objectives 1, 2, 3 and 8 of the ACC4116 Drowning Prevention Strategy Implementation Plan (PDF2.8M).

Research Advisory Committee

The Research Advisory Committee is responsible for increasing the DPC’s water safety knowledge through research and development.

Rescue Advisory Committee

The Rescue Advisory Committee is responsible for providing high quality water safety emergency rescue services.

Education and Awareness Advisory Committee

The Education and Awareness Advisory Committee is responsible for increasing awareness of water safety through education.

Environment Advisory Committee

The Environment Advisory Committee is responsible for creating safe environments on and around water.

This is objective 7 of the ACC4116 Drowning Prevention Strategy Implementation Plan 2007-2011 (PDF2.8M).
