Rugby league

Rugby League demands endurance, speed, agility, strength and power, as well as technical and tactical awareness. Improvement in these areas helps reduce the risk of injury so you can play better, more often, and for longer.

LeagueSmart

LeagueSmart is a programme developed by ACC and New Zealand Rugby League, providing information to prevent rugby league injuries and enable safe participation. The programme is based on the ACC SportSmart 10-point action plan and is located on the NZRL website (external link).

Pre-season LeagueSmart workshops are held in your area. The workshops are a mandatory requirement and provide coaches, managers, trainers and players with injury prevention education and strategies on how to improve performance. Contact your local community rugby league office for more information.

Create your own Smart tips

Smart tips is a free online guide to help you prevent injuries and perform better when training or playing. You can customise your own Smart tips to include individual or team information such as key dates, gear checklists and contact numbers. When printed, your Smart tips can be folded to pocket size, making it easy to take with you when training or attending an event.
