‘50 days to go’ to the Games – and counting
The New Zealand Paralympic Games Team is in the final run up to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games opening on 7 September.
Sid Miller, ACC’s Chief Customer Officer, speaking at the team presentation at Sky City, says in 50 days’ time all of New Zealand will be focusing on the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games as the New Zealand team enters the stadium for the opening ceremony.
“New Zealand’s Para-Athletes have an impressive record of achievement on the world stage at both Paralympic Games and World championships. This year they have set themselves a huge challenge to win 18 medals in total, 12 of them gold, to be the most successful New Zealand Paralympics team ever.”
As a major partner of Paralympics New Zealand, ACC is proud to support the team on their road to Rio, and acknowledges the important part these sporting ambassadors play in changing perceptions of disability.
Sid Miller says, “ACC wants to motivate and encourage all New Zealanders to follow the example of our Para-Athletes to live active lives and play to their strengths. This includes those who are recovering from injury.
“Being part of a group, sharing goals and focusing on strengths and abilities is good for everyone.
“Inspiring people to lead active lifestyles and participate in sports at all levels through the celebration of sporting excellence is why ACC is supporting Paralympics New Zealand and our Para-Athletes at the Games.”
ACC, in partnership with Paralympics New Zealand, TVNZ and Attitude Pictures is also proud to sponsor what will be the most extensive, free-to-air television coverage ever shown in New Zealand of a Paralympic Games.
“This gives all New Zealanders the opportunity to follow the television coverage and cheer on our Paralympians as they compete on the world stage in Rio,” says Mr Miller.
