Meet Paralympians at an Open Day

The Bay of Plenty community had the chance to meet Corey and Adam at the ACC Paralympics New Zealand Open Day on Sunday 25 March

The Bayfair Festival of Disability Sport, which showcases Para sport competition, was held on the same day.

The Open Days are a chance for people with disabilities to find out how to get involved in Para sport at all levels. Previous Open Days were held in Wellington, Auckland, New Plymouth, and Tauranga. The final Open Day is being held in Dunedin next month.
ACC Tauranga Branch Manager, Sally Bramley, says:

“The ACC Paralympics New Zealand Open Day has been wonderful. We've had so many people through and many are quite new to Para sport.

"The benefits of sport for people with a disability are multiple. Not only is it proven to increase health, but sport also offers a social outlet and often gives the person a feeling of having a second family around them.”

The next Open Day is at Forsyth Barr Stadium Dunedin on 7 April 2018, from 10am to 3pm. Winter Paralympians Carl Murphy and Adam Hall will attend this Open Day.

We've partnered with Paralympics New Zealand to develop and stage Open Days. People with disabilities can meet Parafed and national sport organisations, and find local sporting opportunities.
