Enhancing the Accredited Employers Programme

We’ve been working with various organisations and stakeholders around New Zealand on how we can improve the Accredited Employers Programme (AEP).

We’ve connected with over 200 people including workers and union reps; health and safety, injury management and HR staff; GPs and providers; and auditors. We’ve spoken with partners like WorkSafe and the Health and Safety Association of New Zealand (HASANZ) and industry associations such as the New Zealand Association of Accredited Employers (NZAAE).

In May, we shared draft programme improvements via drop-in sessions and our online consultation platform Shape Your ACC. Since then we’ve been working with our stakeholders to deep dive into these draft improvements and understand them in more detail. In August, we finished this process with our final series of interviews.

Next steps

We’re now finalising the potential programme improvements based on the feedback we received. We’re also working on options for delivery of any initial programme changes. Following this, our recommendations will go to the ACC Board and Minister for consideration.

We hope to share our recommended programme improvements in early 2020 and following this any initial changes to AEP will be consulted on.
