ACC appoints Deputy Chief Executive Technology and Data

Michael Dreyer has been appointed as our Deputy Chief Executive Technology and Data, joining ACC on 11 November.


Michael brings extensive data, digital and technology leadership and delivery experience in both the private and public sectors, the past seven years in the health sector. 

He is a highly-regarded sector leader, is involved in a number of cross-government technology and digital groups, was named in the top 10 Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in New Zealand in 2021 and received a Public Service Medal in 2022 for his service during COVID.

Michael is currently the Director Sector Digital Channels at Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand and, prior to that, he was the GM National Digital Services and Chief Technology Officer at the Ministry of Health.

During this period, he was also the COVID technology lead, and established and led the national contact tracing service.
 
Michael has a Master of Forestry Science from Canterbury University and, prior to the health sector, worked for Contact Energy for nine years in a range of technology, transformation and programme roles, including a period as CIO.
