Jan Dawson has been appointed to the role of ACC Board Chair.

Today Minister for ACC, Hon Scott Simpson, announced Jan Dawson has been appointed to the role of ACC Board Chair, with immediate effect.

“Jan brings exceptional governance experience and proven leadership. At a time when ACC needs to deliver better rehabilitation and return-to-work outcomes for New Zealanders, I’m confident she will drive the changes needed to secure better results for clients,” Mr Simpson said.

Jan has been with the ACC Board since June 2024, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience from her current and previous governance roles that will make an invaluable contribution to ACC.

I’m delighted to be appointed as ACC’s Board Chair. ACC is an icon of New Zealand, providing no fault injury cover for New Zealanders for over 50 years.

“I look forward to continuing to work with Minister Simpson and the ACC Executive to achieve our ambitious targets to ensure ACC is around for generations to come,” said Jan Dawson, ACC Board Chair.

Jan is currently Chair of Port of Auckland and Chair of the Audit, Risk, and Sustainability Committee at Serko, alongside previous governance roles as Chair of Westpac New Zealand, Deputy Chair of Air New Zealand, and Director of AIG Insurance New Zealand, Beca, Goodman Fielder and Meridian Energy.

In addition to this, Jan previously held both the Chair and Chief Executive position at KPMG New Zealand, following a 30-year career specialising in audit, consulting and accounting services in the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand.

Chief Executive Megan Main said, “the wider executive team and I are thrilled that not only will we continue to benefit from Jan’s extensive experience, but that she will be at the helm of our Board as we drive forward with plans to turnaround performance and secure the future sustainability of the Scheme.

My thanks to David Hunt, who has been acting Chair, and the wider Board for their continued support these past few months,” said Megan.
