August performance results reveal emerging trends
The August month-end Turnaround Plan Report has been released, it shows ACC is recording some of its best results in a decade across key rehabilitation performance areas.
ACC tracks two measures of the long-term claims pool (LTCP), which is the number of clients who have been receiving weekly compensation for more than one year.
The LTCP, excluding Sensitive Claims, decreased by 108 claims through August, contributing to a 4.7 per cent reduction in the pool over the past 12 months. There are now 21,622 clients in the LTCP, excluding Sensitive Claims.
This improved performance is being offset by growth in Sensitive Claims.
This growth, which is largely outside ACC’s control, meant the total LTCP decreased by 20 claims overall, with a 1.2 per cent reduction over the past 12 months. The total pool is now 24,426, against the year-end target range of 23,000 to 23,500.
The Turnaround Plan continues to make steady progress across its other key actions.
Progress was made across all four return-to-work rates this month.
Return-to-work rates show the percentage of clients receiving weekly compensation who return to work within the durations we report on (28 days, ten weeks, nine months and one year). These rates demonstrate how effectively we are supporting clients to return to work or independence.
These improved outcomes reflect an ongoing focus on early intervention and effective relationship-based case management for clients.
Ongoing engagement with health providers is also improving medical certification practices, supporting clients to recover well and rehabilitating them back to being work ready and independent.
While these trends are positive, ACC is committed to further improving how it supports clients to return to work and independence.
