New option available for mental injury clients in Wellington

Released 03/04/2024

We’ve partnered with the Wellington Depression Recovery Trust to pilot Whakamātūtū - a new option for our clients in the Wellington region who have a covered mental injury and are presenting with moderate complexity.

Whakamātūtū is a 4 to 6-week day programme for people with moderate mental injury diagnoses offered by the Wellington Depression Recovery Trust. This service provides comprehensive, holistic support, embedded with Te Whare Tapa Whā principles.

Whakamātūtū incorporates:

  • individual and group therapy
  • social and physical rehabilitation
  • strategies to integrate back into everyday life, post-programme.

Clients must be able to attend the day programme for four days per week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:30am-3.00pm, for 4 to 6 weeks.

Currently this pilot programme is only open to clients in the greater Wellington region who meet the eligibility criteria and are managed by our Partnered and Supported teams in Wellington.

To participate in the programme, clients must be referred by their ACC Recovery Team Member. If you have any questions or would like to initiate a referral, please contact your patient’s ACC Recovery Team Member.
