New pathway to Sensitive Claims Service now live on Safe to talk

Released 28/08/2025

The new pathway to the Sensitive Claims Service through Safe to talk is now live. This means survivors of sexual abuse or assault seeking support from ACC can now visit Safe to talk to get help finding available ACC-funded therapy providers and useful resources and information.

Safe to talk is the nationwide helpline, run by Whakarongorau and funded by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), that provides free and confidential support and information to anyone affected by sexual harm. Safe to talk is available through text, webchat, phone, email and via their website.

  • Through Safe to talk, survivors can find information and be connected to the Sensitive Claims Services or other services that are right for them.
  • Safe to talk will work directly with Sensitive Claims Service suppliers that have ACC therapy providers to confirm their availability, and connect survivors with the supplier to confirm their first appointment.
  • Safe to talk will also offer a check-in service to ensure survivors can get regular updates on progress to find an appropriate ACC therapy provider and navigate them to other supports they may need while they’re waiting.

Survivors who prefer to find therapy providers on their own can still access the Find Support website and use our ‘Find a therapy provider’ tool.

This project is a collaborative effort between ACC, Whakarongorau Aotearoa | New Zealand Telehealth Services and MSD to create a single-point of entry for survivors to access help and support.
