Pay Equity updates

Released 04/12/2023

The recent pay equity settlements signal an important milestone for our healthcare sector.

We are in the process of evaluating our response to these settlements, addressing what it means for ACC and ensuring that we are fairly compensating our suppliers for the valuable work they provide. We recognise each settlement will have significant impacts on the sector and are working through our responses with urgency.

We will look to keep this page up to date on pay equity at ACC, as we work through the process of each settlement within the sector.

Nursing settlement

Te Whatu Ora, NZNO and PSA worked jointly to complete a pay equity assessment process and in December 2021 an agreement in principle was reached for a pay equity settlement.

In November we presented a paper to the Board on our review of the market and any changes that we planned to make to our service rates following the nursing pay equity settlement.

Although not a party to pay equity negotiations and settlements, ACC considers any adjustments to the labour component of our service price when significant shifts in market prices occur. We are pleased to advise ACC’s Board has approved a price increase for contracted Services where Nursing is a component.

This will be applied to a large number of Services, and our Health Procurement and Contracting team is now focused on preparing and issuing variation letters as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience whilst we complete this work.

Allied, Public Health, Scientific & Technical settlement

Te Whatu Ora, PSA and APEX have reached agreement on a proposed settlement for the Allied, Scientific and Technical pay equity claim.

The Allied Scientific & Technical Pay Equity (PE) settlement signals an important milestone for our health sector.

Although not a party to pay equity negotiations and settlements, ACC considers any adjustments to the labour component of our service price when significant shifts in market prices occur. We are pleased to advise ACC’s Board has approved a price increase for contracted Services where Allied Health is a component.

This will be applied to a large number of Services, and our Health Procurement and Contracting team is now focused on preparing and issuing variation letters as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience whilst we complete this work.
