Join the new ISSC Evolution Working Group
Do you have ideas for how to evolve and strengthen the delivery of services for survivors of sexual violence through the Integrated Services for Sensitive Claims (ISSC) contract? Do you want to be part of the solution that drives empathetic improvements and sustainable outcomes for New Zealanders impacted by sexual violence?
We began our engagement in December 2021 where we canvassed the issues we are collectively facing in the delivery of support for survivors of sexual violence through the ISSC. We continued the conversation with two follow-up hui with representatives from across the sector in March 2022. These focussed on the emerging priority areas that were identified. The hui provided a great platform to surface the issues and challenges and now we need your help through more focussed working groups to focus on developing solutions to the challenges identified.
Expressions of interest now open
We’re now accepting expressions of interest for our new ISSC Evolution Working Group. The goal is to bring together people who hold a wide range of knowledge and experience working in the sexual violence sector so they can work with us to develop solutions to improve the delivery of ISSC.
Each member of the working group will play a key role in enhancing and evolving the delivery of the ISSC, and identifying opportunities to strengthen access, experience, and outcomes for survivors of sexual violence and their whānau by working with ACC to develop sensitive claim services for survivors of sexual violence.
Focus of the working group
The ISSC Evolution Working Group will include four separate subgroups. Each one will focus on a specific client cohort to explore what they need through the ISSC. The subgroups are:
- children and young people
- adults
- Māori and
- men.
The Māori subgroup will focus on how the ISSC can be more responsive to the needs of Māori. This is not for the development of kaupapa Māori services which is being led through our kaupapa Māori health services. The evolved ISSC and newly created kaupapa Māori health services will complement one another and extend the range of service pathways and offerings available to our clients and their whānau with a sensitive claim.
Each group will focus on a client's journey through the Integrated Services for Sensitive Claims looking at key points in that contract: entering services, assessment, tailored services and outcomes.
Skills and experience required
Working group members must have the following skills and experience:
- an understanding of the dynamics of sexual violence and the support a survivor and their whānau needs
- experience working with survivors of sexual violence, and specifically expertise in working with survivors from the identified cohort groups: Children and Young People, Adults, Men and Māori
- direct or indirect experience of Integrated Services of Sensitive Claims as a supplier, provider, client advocate, professional association
- willingness and ability to advise and advocate for the aspirations of survivors and their whānau
- understanding of the intersectionality of sexual violence and the recovery journey.
Being on the working group
Each subgroup will have up to eight members and you will be paid for your time, experience, and expertise in accordance with the Cabinet Fees Framework.
Beginning in July 2022, the groups will meet online for one two-hour meeting each month and undertake six hours of work outside of the meeting time. Working group members must be able to commit to participating in all six meetings and to the required work in between meetings. This is a requirement of the Expression of Interest to be considered on the working group. Membership on the group may cease for non-attendance.
The meetings will take place on 15 July, 12 August, 16 September, 14 October, 11 November, 9 December 2022. The Terms of Reference provide more details.
