Reminder of your obligations working under the Cost of Treatment Regulations

Released 30/03/2026

We recently sent out a reminder to all contracted suppliers about their obligations working with ACC.

As a provider invoicing us under the Cost of Treatment Regulations there are similar obligations you need to adhere to. These are essential to ensure injured New Zealanders receive the right care, at the right time, and to protect the long-term sustainability of the Scheme.

All treatment and services provided to ACC clients must:

  • be clinically necessary and appropriate for the covered injury
  • meet required quality and performance standards
  • be delivered at the appropriate frequency and duration, based on clinical need
  • be provided at the right time and place to support recovery
  • be within the practitioner’s professional scope of practice
  • be billed only for covered injuries.

For more information on working with us under the Cost of Treatment Regulations, read our Working Together Handbook.
