Register your interest for the Physiotherapy Market Review
As you will be aware, ACC and Physiotherapy New Zealand (PNZ) have commissioned Sapere to conduct an independent market review of physiotherapy services in New Zealand.
The review aims to provide both organisations with transparent data and analysis that will inform future decisions about the commissioning of accident-related physiotherapy services in New Zealand – with the aims of improving client outcomes, supporting equity, and ensuring value for money and a sustainable sector.
The scope of the review includes physiotherapy services delivered under the Allied Health Services contract (excluding maternal birth injuries, hand therapy, physiotherapy specialists) and the Cost of Treatment Regulations. Physiotherapy services delivered under other secondary care contracts are out of scope.
As part of this review, Sapere is looking for a sample of ten physiotherapy businesses to visit and gather financial and other relevant practice information from.
What's involved
The practices selected will be asked to share data such as annual financial reports, monthly management accounts and FTE report by position. They will also need to agree to a site visit from Sapere to meet with relevant staff, to make sure they understand your practice and the information you provide.
As independent reviewers, they will treat shared data as confidential and neither ACC nor PNZ will have access to any identifiable data throughout the process. Practice visits are expected to take around two hours.
Sapere are leading experts in this work, having recently conducted an in-depth review of health need and sustainability in general practice funding, using a similar sample size. Their proven cost-modelling approach seeks to understand typical business archetypes (such as clinic size, geography and demographics, and revenue mix) rather than a large representative sample. Information on the wider profession, sourced from existing data, will supplement this sample to provide a complete view of the physiotherapy market.
