Secondary care market engagement webinar resources now available

Released 01/07/2026

Last month, we hosted a secondary care market engagement webinar to discuss details about our proposed new secondary care commissioning model. We also shared information about the design process, what we’ve heard from the sector through our engagement and our provisional approach and timelines for the procurement of secondary care contracts.

A key focus of the event was to provide an early view of the proposed new Musculoskeletal Triage and Assessment Service, which would replace the current Clinical Services for kiritaki (clients) with musculoskeletal injuries. The proposed new service would provide a single and more consistent entry point into secondary care, helping ensure kiritaki receive the right care at the right time, and that they’re supported through appropriate assessment and treatment planning.

The new service would strengthen the referral process — with clearer expectations and information to support good clinical decision-making early. To share more details about what this means for primary care, we invited GPs and nurse practitioners to also join us at the event.

More than 230 providers attended the webinar and we were pleased to see plenty of questions from providers representing both the secondary and primary care sectors.

If you were unable to attend, visit our website to access a recording of the session, the slide pack and Q&As.

Health sector engagement

Over the coming months, we’ll continue to engage with the sector as we refine the model. To share feedback or for further questions, email us:
