What your employer needs to know

If you're recovering from a sprain or strain and can work, sharing the right information with your employer can help you stay connected and recover faster - physically and mentally.

If you’ve been diagnosed with a strain or sprain,  

and can work during your recovery,  

there are three key pieces of information you should share with your boss 

It might not be easy,  

but that conversation can help you have a successful recovery.

1. What’s the situation?

Let your employer know what’s happened,  

and what your GP or physio has advised.  

This sets clear expectations  

and helps them understand what supports they can provide.

 2. Keep in touch with your employer

Make sure your employer knows that you want to stay involved with work.  

Keeping that connection can support both your physical recovery and your mental wellbeing.

3. Create a recovery at work plan.

Have a conversation with your employer about the tasks you can do safely while you recover, 

and work together to adjust your duties,  

so you keep active and be productive.
