New AI guidelines for providers
AI is increasingly being used in healthcare and offers potential benefits for providers and ACC clients. However, with rapid innovation and known risks to patient safety and privacy, ACC is taking a precautionary approach.
A new position statement has been developed to guide providers on the safe, effective, and ethical use of AI when working with ACC clients and their personal information. Developed in consultation with providers, it reflects best practice and should be read alongside existing legislative, regulatory, and ACC policy requirements.
Transparency about how personal information is collected, used, and shared remains critical to maintaining trust. Providers are also encouraged to continue working with their professional and regulatory bodies to support ongoing safe and ethical AI use.
