Provider IDs coming soon for kairongoā

We’re introducing a new requirement for all kairongoā (rongoā Māori practitioners) delivering rongoā Māori services to ACC kiritaki (clients). Each kairongoā will need a unique Provider ID.  

This is one of the processes we have in place to help keep kiritaki, whānau, and our providers and practitioners safe. It gives us clear visibility of the people who are providing ACC-funded services. ​  

If you already have a Provider ID from another service or contract, you won’t need to apply for a new one. 

What is a Provider ID?  

This is a unique identification number for each individual providing services to our kiritaki. This includes ​kaimahi working for a lead practitioner.  

Most ACC providers, including physios, GPs and home support carers use a Provider ID. ​  

The difference between a Vendor ID and Provider ID is:   

  • Vendor ID – one per clinic  
  • Provider ID – one for each individual working there.​  

If you work at multiple clinics, your individual Provider ID stays the same.​  

What happens next  

We’ll share more information with you on how and when to register for a Provider ID in the coming weeks.  

This will include information for lead practitioners on what we require to complete this process for their kaimahi.
