Office closures due to extreme weather events.

Our Whangarei, Gisborne, Rotorua, Tauranga and Whakatane offices will be closed on Wednesday 21 January and Thursday 22 January 2026. This decision was made following advice from Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) and local authorities. They are scheduled to reopen on Friday 23 January 2026.

ACC is a Crown entity. It's governed by a Board that is responsible to the Minister for ACC. The Chief Executive reports to the Board.

Our history

Accident compensation has a long history in New Zealand. The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) began in 1974 and has continued to evolve ever since.
