Apply now for the new High Tech Imaging and Elective Surgery contracts
We’ve released Requests for Application (RFAs) for the new High Tech Imaging (HTI) and Elective Surgery Services (ESS) contracts on the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS).
The ESS contract provides planned surgery services for our clients, including pre-surgery care, surgery, recovery, and support after leaving hospital.
The HTI contract provides diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology services for eligible ACC clients. This includes MRI, CT, SPECT and other nuclear medicine imaging, PET, bone scintigraphy and nuclear scans, DEXA scans, image-guided interventional radiology procedures, and interventional pain procedures.
The new contracts include clearer service expectations, updated performance measures, and improved reporting to support safe, timely, and high-quality services, while helping to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Accident Compensation Scheme. These changes are part of our efforts to strengthen how we commission secondary care to support better recovery outcomes for injured people and ensure services are used effectively and sustainably.
The RFA for High Tech Imaging includes two parts:
- an open market RFA for core HTI services across New Zealand
- a targeted competitive pricing component for MRI services in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Canterbury. Respondents will be required to provide pricing for MRI services in those targeted regions.
For Elective Surgery Services, we will be using a single stage RFA process.
For more details, see the GETS notices.

All questions about the RFAs and the Service Schedules must be submitted on the GETS website. To submit questions, subscribe to the GETS notice and use the question function on GETS to submit your questions. This allows all questions and our responses to be viewed by all subscribers.
The RFAs close on 27 October 2026.
We’re also hosting a webinar on 12 October 2026 which will focus on the proposed data and information requirements for the new HTI service contract. This webinar is intended for supplier representatives with an understanding of technical integration and data requirements. See the events section of the Provider Update for more information or register online.
